I’m chair of the Marketing faculty in the Carroll School of Management at Boston College. For the last several years Jeff has been an Adjunct Professor of Marketing, teaching Strategic Brand Management in the graduate MBA program and Marketing Principles in the undergraduate program. Without hesitation, I support his candidacy for Weston’s School Committee.
Jeff is an outstanding educator and knows education. He is a creative, thoughtful and inspiring teacher who relates very well to students. Here’s what students have said in recent end-of-course evaluations: “The strength of this course was Professor Lucas. He organized and created the best course I have ever taken at BC. This class was extremely [well] run.” Or, “Professor Lucas is just a great teacher overall: very understanding, clear, genuinely cares about his students, fair, respectful.” And, Jeff offered “one of the best teaching styles and class organization I’ve had at BC.”
I know that Jeff would apply insights he’s gained from working with students in academia to his membership on the committee in support of Weston’s students’ education.
One of Jeff’s passions is to encourage students to identify recent developments in marketing and connect them to their own experiences. This mindset to seek new connections—to understand what others are doing and apply them to one’s own situation—enables Jeff to add real, immediate value to the committee.
You would do very well to vote for Jeff on May 7.
I’m a long time, local resident of Weston and a parent. I’ve known Jeff Lucas for almost 10 years and without hesitation, support his candidacy for Weston’s School Committee.
Jeff is strongly committed to his family, his community and education.
His solid business experience (former position at Raytheon), current academic teaching position (Boston College Carroll School of Management), and role teaching in our Weston schools (Field School) all demonstrate his passion, smarts, and focus for making education a top priority. He is actively involved, listening, and creating solutions. I witnessed this when we were on the PTO Board together and he was Communications lead; writing, communicating and discussing key topics that were and are top of mind to parents and teachers to find resolutions and bring key issues to the forefront.
Jeff has shown an exemplary standing in all the areas (academic rigor, long-term planning, and strategic collaboration) that are necessary for a dedicated candidate representing our School Committee. His financial, business and teaching experience will continue to help strengthen the success and health of our schools. Jeff is results oriented and epitomizes determination, fairness and compassion.
Jeff has my vote for School Committee, and I hope you will consider him for one of your votes.
Jeff’s business experience includes a former position at Raytheon, and he is currently teaching at the Boston College Carroll School of Management. He has one child in the Weston Public Schools. His top priority for the schools is improved academic rigor, with better long-term planning a close second. He is focused on identifying and implementing appropriate metrics and benchmarks. He described a desire for a stronger voice for parents and teachers, with residents having more opportunity to “participate in student education,” although his objectives and plan for this initiative were not as completely clear or compelling. Jeff is also an articulate, personable, and committed individual who looks for creative solutions to complex problems.
